Our eyes and brain allow us to perceive a far greater range of brightness than can be recorded by a camera. Photos of interiors typically must bias the exposure, favouring either the relatively dimly lit room or the brightly lit scene through the windows. To record a more natural scene the digital photographer can combine the best parts of two or more seperate photos, or raise the brightness of the interior using flash (as in the example above).
