Ha ha. Yes, we just had to be out of earshot, whereas kids today with cellphones might as well be carrying a tracking device!
Persevere with Photoshop. Sure the darkroom has its magic - the smell of chemicals and the glow of the safe light, but PS gives you such control. You could always put a red bulb in the office and burn incense while you work!

Jon,
I like the sound of these video calls. I wouldn't mind giving it a go here as work is scarce!

Mate,
That was beautiful. We are still looking for a home! That was the slickest presentation of a home I have ever seen. Good on ya Jon.

Jon,
You do have a way with words which I wont try to copy. I guess if we had such tech back in the 70's I wouln't have heard Rewa shouting "Jonathon!" She would have txt you so I would have no idea that you were not where you should have been.
I think the way things were back then was simple and good though it was a frustration waiting for photos but that also had the advantage of anticipation rather than ,well that can be scrapped. Gone are the days of real "Dodging" and "Burning" to get the right exposure and detail of B&W prints. Still cant get my head around that. Adobe P/S is good but complex.
Give me the good old days!

Hey David, thanks for stopping by. I did read recently results of a study that surveyed people from both modern and primitive cultures, to find out in general how contented they were. Certainly the ‘primitives’ were no less contented than the ‘moderns’ who would seem to have more 'stuff' and opportunity. The summation was that humans primarily derive happiness from creating and maintaining social links within their communities. So there’s perhaps a good reason to blog, in order to establish those connections?

Jon, nice idea to do a series related to the community in which you work. Might help generate a following.

Cheers,

Thanks for the encouragement Paul. It's great that you have links and memories to this area. I'm visiting your website now and I encourage anyone with a love of northern Queensland and fine photography to do the same.

I just found your blog off the Photography for Real Estate Website. I love your architectural images and it's great to see early morning pictures of the Sunshine Coast. My Nan used to live in Coolum back when the was a movie theatre on the corner where McDonalds now lives. Keep on blogging - it definitely helps your stats and business if you keep at it.

cheers
