Different light sources, such as sunlight and tungsten or fluorescent bulbs, have their own characteristic colour that will tint the scene, most noticeably in surfaces that should be white. Although digital cameras provide a 'white balance' control that neutralises the effect of the light source, selecting the incorrect WB for the shot will result in unnatural colour.
